There has a been a large amount of fake news around the Coronavirus pandemic, this situation is more critical among older people who mostly consume content in local languages a lot of which is distributed on WhatsApp and other communication apps.

The World Health Organisation has a lot of resources and information around safety measures for the Coronavirus but none of these is in local African languages. Many older Africans who don’t speak English or French have very few accurate resources on the pandemic available to them. This information gap is very dangerous and needs to be addressed.

Our project is COVID Project Africa, we are working on translating informational and safety messages from the World Health Organisation into engaging content in local African languages.
